A wide range of practical activities enables them to understand numbers and the written words. learn through a variety of fun ways such as through animal songs and stories, a variety of outdoor activities, bible stories and many more. Their physical activities are carefully planned. Participation in the group activity teaches co-operation and teamwork. The children also learn to play fair and to follow games rules.
Much emphasis is placed on encouraging and developing the child’s autonomy and independence of mind. Most of the day is spent with the class teacher with the aim of building confidence and accuracy in the written and spoken word and laying the foundation of sound mathematical understanding. Teaching is now more formal. At this stage the children are leading little citizens within the school and are given the challenges of decision making relevant to their age. Upon completion of this stage the children are emotionally and psychologically prepared for transition to primary education.
